Transfer Orientation
The University’s Transfer Orientation Program is designed to transition new students and their families to the institution, expose new students to the broad educational opportunities of Mason, and integrate new students and their families into the life of the Institution. The Mason Orientation program promotes student development, academic acclimation and preparation, school spirit, and accountability among Mason students and their families. The program and staff encourage student’s self-growth, learning, and understanding their own relationship to the intellectual, social, and cultural climate of George Mason University. University Orientation is offered through the summer for students enrolling in the Fall semester and again in December and January for students enrolling in the Spring semester. Transfer students have the option of participating in a full-day program or an evening program.
- The evening program provides general information about University policies and procedures as well as academic advising and registration. This evening session is designed for students who will be taking courses at Mason on a part-time basis or returning for a second degree.
- The daytime transfer session allows for students and families to connect with more University offices, faculty and staff as well as current students and learn more about the overall Mason academic and collegiate experience. This daytime program is for students transitioning to Mason from a two- or four-year institution planning to attend full-time. All students must attend an Orientation session in order to register for classes.
